EDITORIAL: Waste shemozzle
From the very start, the possibility of a regional waste facility has been plagued with frustration.

While looking towards the new year, take the time to take a look back on the year past.

There were highs (and not just the river levels) and lows (including temperatures during summer).

There was joy – sporting success, funding windfalls, awards galore. There was controversy – the Loxton centenary feature Counterbalance, the riverfront car park plan.

There was Mother Nature at her best and worst.

People bid fond farewells, while new locals were welcomed into the community.

One common thread has been the overwhelming sense of support and compassion. It’s been said time and time again, but I will say it again – when the chips are down, you know there will be someone there to help you.

Whether it has been stories of people helping local families cope with the loss of a loved one, or those donating clothes and money to strangers impacted by a natural disaster – it has been truly heart-warming to hear of people’s generosity.

So I simply wish you a happy year. Do something that makes either yourself, or someone else happy.
