Forty years ago - on January 23, 1972 – Queen's and regimental colours were presented to the 43rd Battalion (Bushman’s Rifles), Royal South Australia Regiment by the Governor-General of Australia, Sir Paul Hasluck, at a ceremonial parade on the Adelaide Oval.

MDB plan doubts

It was with pride that I accepted the KESAB Award for 'Best Public Garden' at the Australia Day breakfast on behalf of The Pines Management Committee and its volunteers.

The well-deserved award is in recognition of the 3000 hours accredited annually to the volunteers and the $100,000 worth of improvements and assets that have gone into the property since 2002 when Mrs Ella Kingdon generously bequeathed The Pines to the people of Loxton for display and entertainment purposes.

A bit like ‘Topsy’ it has grown to  really  become a treasured icon that can be appreciated by locals and tourists alike.

Congratulations to everyone involved.
